Protea Ceramics Dental Laboratory was founded in 2015 by Stefan Minnie who started his dental technician career in 2001 following a move to the UK from South Africa. After 14 years employed at a dental lab where he gained extensive experience into all aspects of dental technology, Stefan decided to set up on his own and has not looked back since. The Protea is the national flower of South Africa and so, Protea Ceramics Dental Laboratory was founded.
With an established reputation for providing only the highest quality dental restorations, Protea Ceramics is now attracting clients from as far as Jersey and is continuing to grow throughout East Anglia and across the UK.

Our primary aim is to consistently deliver exceptional quality dental restorations so that dentists can be relied upon to provide the highest level of care. Our uncompromising attention to detail has resulted in a success rate of 99.5%.
Fully accredited
Our dental technicians are all fully GDC registered with extensive experience in the dental technology field. We are also a DAMAS ‘Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit Scheme’ accredited laboratory which is the most used annually inspected quality system within the dental laboratory industry. It provides a framework to ensure that dental laboratories are operating within the Medical Devices Regulations.
We are a member of the Dental Lab Association and carry the ‘British Bite Mark’, recognising all our products are manufactured in the UK by fully qualified dental technicians, in accordance with the Medical Devices Directive using materials that are all CE marked. Our MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency) registration number is 5259.
Reliability and dedication
We provide a completely bespoke service to our clients and are always on-hand to discuss patient cases from the outset through to the manufacturing process. We offer a detailed consultation service and will advise clinicians on what restoration system would most suit a specific case, particularly where the best course of action isn’t always straight forward.
Embracing the digital age
At Protea we embrace every technological advancement in our industry, including digital services. From receiving intra-oral scans and producing 3D printed models, to design and manufacturing processes using CAD/CAM systems, we can receive intra-oral scan files from all the major intra-oral scanning (IOS) systems on the market via STL format, including 3Shape Trios®, Sirona CEREC®, and iTero®.

Stefan
Laboratory Owner
Stefan Minnie, the laboratory owner is a fully qualified and highly experienced dental technician with 20 years’ experience behind him. A natural perfectionist when it comes to teeth, he is true artist in his field with an uncompromising eye for detail and quality.
Liz
Office Manager
With a varied background, Liz holds a BSc degree in Computer Information Systems and previously worked for over 13 years as an MCIPD qualified HR Advisor. She is now the Office Manager to Protea Ceramics and undertakes all administrative and finance work.
Colin
Freelance Ceramist
Colin has been in the industry for 35 years and specialises in ceramics. He is trained in all aspects of the dental field and has a National Diploma in Dental Technology. He has worked for Protea Ceramics since 2018 and his ceramic work is truly outstanding.
Archie
Delivery Driver
With a remarkable career history, Archie served in the UK armed forces before embarking on a long and successful career in haulage. He now drives for Protea Ceramics collecting and delivering work across East Anglia.
